Preparing Kosher Food

- For cooking kosher dinner, you will need kosher meat products. Not only is pork prohibited but Jewish butchers usually sell only the front part of animals since the rear part has sciatic nerve and blood vessels. As per the kosher laws, animals with hooves or animals that chew cud are considered as kosher. According to kosher laws poultry and certain fish can be consumed but the consumption of shellfish is prohibited.

- Once you get kosher meat products, you have to make sure that you broil or drain blood from the meat. Blood has to be drained from kosher meat before it can be consumed. To drain the blood out of the meat, you can salt or soak it. You can ask the butcher from who you get the kosher meat to drain the blood.

- When you prepare the meat, use only kosher ingredients. You cannot cook the meat using any dairy products. You will have to cook the meat with grains or whole produces. You can make the meat with eggs and fish.

- While cooking you must have separate utensils for meat and dairy products. The utensil that you have used to make a cream based sauce cannot be used to make meat.
